As a Kennel Technician,you will be required to work around animals on a daily basis.
Self awareness, disease control, & an understanding of animal body language are important aspects in the animal welfare field.
-The main role of a kennel technician is providing a clean living space for each animal in our care.
It also requires you to be aware of your surroundings & communication is important between the appropriate staff members.
-This work can be physically demanding.
-Reliability & Consistency are a must.
We are a tight knit organization with limited staff, as a nonprofit organization, and rely on each employee to be present when they are scheduled.

The major function of the Kennel Technician is to provide safe, humane, and thorough care for animals housed at the Caring Hands Humane Society.
This includes sanitizing, cleaning, re-stocking, good housekeeping, observing and recording health and behavior according to current policy.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Follow objectives and policies that support the organization's mission and vision.
Following & adapting to work schedule provided by Kennel Supervisor.
Follow kennel policies and procedures under the guidance of the Kennel Supervisor.
Ensuring cages, runs, and the overall facility is cleaned on a regular basis.
Ensuring the animals are groomed, fed, exercised, and generally cared for.
Assisting with enrichment which is distributed daily, when directed by the Kennel Supervisor.
Monitoring the behavior of shelter animals.
Follow instructions laid out on individual kennels pertaining to the care and daily enrichment or feeding of the animals.

Attend mandatory staff meetings set by the Kennel Supervisor and/or Executive Director.
Supervision:
This position reports directly to the Kennel Supervisor.
EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma required.
High degree of flexibility.
A respect for the human-animal bond is a must.
Excellent verbal communication skills; proven ability to communicate with staff.
Must have sufficient knowledge on animal behavior and animal welfare protocols or ability to learn within a timely manner following hire date.
Understanding of issues and industry practices in animal welfare.
Attendance must be a priority.
Repeated tardiness or lack of attendance is not tolerated.
Ability to adapt to new protocols daily.
Flexibility on work schedule is a must.

Work hours may be extended as necessary to include special adoption events, trainings, or meetings.
